If you require three-phase power (400V) for heavy machinery, you will need a three-phase generator. If this is not strictly necessary, it is highly recommended to opt for a single-phase (230V) diesel generator. This is because a three-phase diesel generator only delivers one-third of its total power output through its standard 230V outlets.
Furthermore, the choice between an air-cooled or water-cooled diesel generator is critical; a water-cooled engine runs quieter but carries a higher purchase price. Lastly, consider the operational speed: a 3000 RPM diesel generator lasts approximately 7,500 running hours and remains light and compact. In contrast, 1500 RPM diesel generators are quieter and offer an exceptional lifespan of up to 15,000 running hours, though these heavy-duty units require a higher initial investment.
